The Salvation Army Shield Is A Good Sign!

Along craggy shores and dangerous shoals and reefs, lighthouses are utilized to  safely guide an incoming vessel thru the darkness and into the harbor.

The Salvation Army shield has long been a beacon of light and hope for those making their way out of the storms of their life and into a harbor of refuge.

From a distance, throughout this Northeast Nashville neighborhood, the lights of the shield shine night and day, providing a way for those who seek assistance to find it.

I’d like to share our mission statement broken down so you can gain a greater understanding of the love behind the vision; behind the ministry known as The Salvation Army and what this signifies!

“The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian church.”  The Salvation Army is more than an organization; a non-profit, it is a movement that spans across many continents and countries.  Those who choose to serve in whatever capacity do so because of a calling on their lives.  A calling from God that directs them to serve “Others” in His name!

“Its message is based on the Bible.  Its ministry is motivated by the love of God.” We are founded on the text contained within the word of God.  Our feet are firmly set upon the solid rock of His words to us and at no point will we ever deviate from thisWhat fuels us and drives us to do what we do is knowing we are doing it for Him; we are fulfilling His will.

Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ” Our sole purpose above anything else is to plant the seeds of truth in people’s lives.  To allow them to see just how real God is and how in knowing Him, their lives can be transformed from hopeless to hopeful!

and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.”  The only thing someone has to do when approaching The Salvation Army for help is demonstrate a need.  We are here to feed the soul and feed the body, to renew ones sense of worth and to restore a broken spirit thru Jesus!
