We See Doughnuts!

“Between the optimist and the pessimist, the difference is droll. The optimist sees the doughnut; the pessimist the hole!” ~Oscar Wilde

At The Salvation Army, we don’t focus on the void, the emptiness, the hole that so many people possess after devastating circumstances, life events and outcomes they never thought for a moment would happen to them.  The vastness that many feel as they stumble through life unable to see past their obstacles; their personal hopelessness can at times seem unbearable.  But we are here to help individuals walk through that storm and to soon see the “sweetness” of a life that is just within their grasp.  A life, that founded on Christ, can be one of joy, of fulfillment and peace.

This Friday, June 3rd, all over the US, Salvation Army’s along with various entities such as Entenmanns, Krispy Kreme and Dunkin Donuts will celebrate “National Doughnut Day!”  A day established back in 1938 by The Salvation Army in Chicago, IL to help raise funds to assist people in need.  By visiting Krispy Kreme and Dunkin Donuts, everyone receives a FREE donut!  If you click on the Entenmanns link, you register to win a FREE iPad to be given away June 15th.

As you enjoy the festivities planned throughout the country and the delish donuts given away by these fine bakeries be sure and remember the reason behind it all.  It’s designed to ultimately create awareness for the work we do, why we do it and how with your help, we are able to continue in our mission of “Doing the Most Good” within the 122 countries in which we serve.
