You Don’t Have To Give…..

The Salvation Army in Sendai, Japan providing meals to those affected by the recent earthquake/tsunami

but you do and many are blessed around the world because of it.  You work very hard for the money you earn and with the rising cost of gas, food and other necessary items, budgeting and careful selection of how one’s money is spent is critical.  That is why we consider it a blessing and thank you for your commitment, dedication and heart to give back to “Others” in their time of need.  No matter the amount, $5.00 to 1 million, it all makes a difference and has lasting impact on those we serve!

To date, The Salvation Army has raised $2,117,821 toward our Relief Efforts in Japan.  This is a combined total from Text-To-Give ($111,590), online donations ($1,940,380) from calling 1-800-SAL-ARMY ($59,000) and mail ($6,851).  For all monies designated for disaster relief in Japan, 100% of the donation will go to Japan and provide the necessary food, water, medical supplies, clean up kits, cots, etc directly to the people.

Update from their field: The Salvation Army’s Korea Territory has arranged for the K-Water Corporation to provide 100,000 bottles of water to be sent to Japan – 30,000 bottles by the end of the week, followed by the rest within a short time – and the Korea Disaster Relief Association will be sending 5,000 first-aid kits. Salvationists in Korea are holding a month of prayer for the people of Japan.

If you wish to donate to the cause, here are a couple of ways:

  • Pray – this is the greatest donation you can make.  Pray for those families affected by this catastrophic event.  Pray for the search and rescue teams, military, relief workers, medical personnel and the countless volunteers
  • Give – If you can, monetary donations are vital at this time so we are able to purchase what we need to meet the need here in Japan.  The Salvation Army has been serving the people of Japan since 1895 and all local units are at work providing services.  There are 3 ways you can donate and please remember that 100% of what you donate to disaster goes to the disaster!
