2010 was an incredibly busy year but what a blessing! The folks we had the opportunity to meet up with, connect with and impact was amazing and we will never forget those connections which continue to this day!
It all started with Ashley Puckett and her team at Discover615 who chose to partner with The Salvation Army during a concert series called “Healing Haiti 1 Song @ a Time” with all proceeds to benefit SA Disaster Services in Haiti after the devastating earthquake January 12, 2010. From there we met singer/songwriters Heidi Rojas and Matt Ridenour who continued the partnership thru the series and into the Flood Relief efforts here in Nashville during the 1000 year flood that impacted Middle Tennessee May 2010. Thank you to Hard Rock Nashville, Premier Parking, Limelight, WSMV Channel 4 via a telethon, Go.Daddy.com, The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, Frist Foundation, 95The Wolf, 103 WKDF, Cumulus Nashville, NBC Knoxville, United Way of Middle Tennessee, Colgate, Sounds Baseball, The Floating Men Band, ESCU Credit Union, Cub Scouts Pack 374, Boswell Harley Davidson, Latitude Coffee Company, Toyota Financial, Best One Tire, Adtran (Huntsville), Bone Fish Grille, First Bank, First Tennessee, Jiu Jitsu Nation, Bert Mathews/The Mathews Company and Logan’s Roadhouse for collecting items, sponsoring concerts or serving meals.
In June, we held our Community Celebration 2010 at our Magness Potter Community Center featuring Hollywood Records recording artist Jordan Pruitt and the Soul Choir with food provided by Cantrells BBQ. This was quickly followed later in the summer by a partnership with Project ReDesign as they adopted our Home Sweet Home initiative. They completely redid our living room in the single woman’s unit in Transitional Housing and provided furniture by Bradford’s Interiors, IDS Inc. and art work by Steve Stinson. We would also like to thank the Optimist Club of Nashville for their partnership in the annual Fishing Rodeo at Shelby Park as well as Pella for their food drive at LP Field, Target and their School Shopping Spree for so many youth this year, The Key Alliance for their “Walk a Mile In My Shoes” initiative and the annual AMBEST Golf Tournament.
Then, soon enough, the Christmas season was upon us and with that came a multitude of incredible partners who blessed us with their hearts for the mission! A big thank you to the singer/songwriters who donated their talents to our 2010 Gathering of Angels concert at Christ Church Nashville, Jimmy Wayne, Restless Heart, Julie Roberts, Matthew West, Ty Herndon, Daniel Kirkley, Nashville Choir and Daniele Kingsley. Also a big thanks to Marianne DeMeyers with Big Heart Management along with Jon Allen and the sound and production crew. A very special thank you to Millennium Brokerage Group for being our Gathering of Angels Presenting Sponsor. And last but certainly not least to our many, many sponsors (we like to call them “angels”) for our Angel Tree/Red Kettle season: WSMV Channel 4, WJXA Mix 92.9, 103WKDF, 104.5TheZone, Daily’s Convenience Stores, Kroger, First Bank, Brick’s Cafe, A Celtic Christmas @ the Ryman, Audio Branding Co., Rodan+Fields, Whole Foods – Green Hills, Ricochet, The Salvation Army ARC (Adult Rehabilitation Center), Northwestern Mutual/Pruett Financial, CBL Malls (Hickory Hollow, RiverGate and Cool Springs Galleria), Davis Land Co (The Mall at Green Hills), Battle Ground Academy, Sharif Iman, Dottie and friends, Jennifer Vickery, LAMAR Outdoor Advertising, Jessica Gilliam Photography, Civil Air Patrol, Natalie Simmons, Production, Metro Social Services, Krispy Kreme of Nashville, Hobby Lobby, Harris Teeter, Walmart, SAMS Club, Bridgestone Arena, Hooters, Wildhorse Saloon, Demo’s, Region’s Bank, Arcade Co/First Management, Bank of America, 511 Group Management, L&C Tower, Ryman Auditorium, K-Mart, H.G. The Salvation Army is fueled by a passion for Christ and for “Others” and by our amazing community support, we are able to reach out and meet the need whatever that might be. We realize we could never do this alone and not a second goes by that we do not stop and count our blessings. As we pray in thanksgiving, know that it is your name we call out and it’s your gift of time and/or treasure that we acknowledge. Thank you from The Salvation Army – Nashville Area Command.
